Every 10 minutes, a woman or girl is killed intentionally by a partner or family member. This devastating statistic underscores the urgent crisis of gender-based violence across the globe.
At the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance (NATSIWA), we stand in solidarity with the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. There is #NoExcuse for violence against women and girls.
The 16 Days of Activism is more than just a campaign—it’s a powerful call to action. As the world nears the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 2025, this period serves as a vital opportunity to revitalize commitments, amplify voices, and demand accountability from decision-makers. The Beijing Declaration remains a visionary blueprint for achieving gender equality and protecting the rights of women and girls worldwide.
We invite you to join us in raising awareness and advocating for systemic change. It’s time to reaffirm our collective commitment to ending gender-based violence and ensuring safe, empowered lives for women and girls everywhere.

Let’s stand together and work toward a future where women and girls can live free from violence.
